NATIONAL CONSUMER DAY

An Awareness Programme on Consumer Rights was organized by the NSS unit on 29th December 2020 in association with All India Consumer Welfare Council, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mysuru, Credit-I Mysuru and Maharani’s Women’s
Arts College, Mysuru. The programme initiated with a Prayer Song by NSS Volunteers. Mr. Raghavendra C S, Assistant Professor, Department of Kannada welcomed the gathering. Dr. M P Varsha, District President, All India Consumer Welfare Council Mysuru, enlightened the gathering about the consumer rights and explained the benefits of Consumer Forum. He requested the members to be aware of the consumer rights and bring in to the notice of the forum, in any case of violence of the rules by the shops/ company. He also gave many examples/ case studies how the consumer forum has assisted the concerned consumer in claiming the rights.

Mr. Mahadeveswamy, Inspector, Legal Weight and Measurement Office, through a practical demonstration explained the ways, shop keepers cheat their costumers by using tricks in the weighing scales. He also highlighted the consumer rights and how the common public can file complaints against such mal practices. Prof. Manonmani, Head of Psychology Department, Maharani’s College, Dr.C.J. Priya, Principal, Ms.Sukshma R D, NSS Coordinator, staff
and students graced the occasion with their presence.
