Dental Diagnosis & Awareness Camp

The NSS unit of Hindustan First Grade College organized a Dental Diagnosis and Awareness camp in association with Public Oral Health Department, JSS Dental College and Hospital, Mysuru and Y’s men’s club of Mysuru Chamundi on 18th December 2019. The Chief Guest Dr. Sunita, JSS Dental College & Hospital, Dr. Lakshmi, JSS Dental College & hospital, Mr. Roy, General Manager, Finance Dept, HFGC, Wing Commodore Pandurangi, and Ajay M, NSS Programme Officer inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. The inaugural programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Ajay, NSS Programme Officer. The camp was initiated with Dental Awareness talk by Dr. Sunitha who educated students about common dental ailments, especially stressing on tooth decay and gum diseases and measures to prevent from them. The students were highlighted about the eating patterns and food choices which cause tooth decay. The doctors also highlighted about the possible formation of harmful acid which develops when bacteria (plaque) get in contact with sugar in the mouth which ultimately result in tooth decay. “Added sugars often are present in soft drinks, candies, cookies, pastries, and therefore to help control the consumption of sugar one must read the food labels and choose the right foods and beverages that are low in added sugar”, the doctors added. A diagnostic check up was done for staff and students of HFGC & OFAA, following which the required treatment module was explained. The students got a chance to interact with the dental surgeons to enquire and gain knowledge concerning oral diseases. On completion of the dental check up, each student was given a Patient Card, a report summary of the diagnosed problem and the recommended dental treatment plan.
