Course: MCA – Master of Computer Application

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS

Candidates applying for admission to Master’s Degree must be a graduate and should have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks and 45% in case of SC/ST/Category-I candidates in the qualifying examination. Candidates must have studied Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Science / Computer Programming / Business Mathematics / Business Statistics at either 10+2 level or degree level. In case a candidate has taken longer than the prescribed duration to pass the qualifying course, a deduction of 3% of the aggregate marks for every additional year shall be made, and the candidate must still satisfy the minimum marks required for eligibility.

PGCET Entrance Examination is compulsory for admission to MCA through KEA. Candidates must apply and appear for the entrance examination separately. For admission, candidates must qualify in the entrance examination by securing: 08 marks (SC/ST/Category-I), 09 marks (OBC), 10 marks (General) out of 50 marks.

Note: Applications of candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be considered, even if they have appeared for the entrance examination.

 

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POS)

PO 1: Computational Knowledge – Apply knowledge of computing fundamentals, specialized computing areas, mathematics, and relevant domain knowledge to develop abstractions and conceptual computing models from defined problems and requirements.
PO 2: Problem Analysis – Identify, formulate, and analyze complex computing problems, refer to relevant literature, and derive well-supported solutions using principles of mathematics, computing sciences, and domain knowledge.
PO 3: Design/Development of Solutions – Design, develop, and evaluate solutions for complex computing problems, and create systems, components, or processes that meet specified needs while considering public health, safety, cultural, societal, and environmental factors.
PO 4: Conduct Investigations of Complex Computing Problems – Use research-based knowledge and appropriate research methods such as experimental design, data analysis, interpretation, and information synthesis to arrive at valid conclusions.
PO 5: Modern Tool Usage – Select, adapt, and apply suitable techniques, resources, and modern computing tools for solving complex computing tasks, with awareness of their limitations.
PO 6: Professional Ethics – Understand and follow professional ethics, cyber laws, regulations, responsibilities, and standards of professional computing practice.
PO 7: Life-long Learning – Recognize the importance of continuous learning and demonstrate the ability to engage in independent learning for ongoing professional development.
PO 8: Project Management and Finance – Apply computing and management principles to plan, manage, and execute projects effectively as an individual or team member/leader in multidisciplinary environments.

PSO1: Enable students to design suitable data models, appropriate system architectures, and analytics techniques for the efficient implementation of complex computing systems.
PSO2: Enable students to design and integrate systems that provide interactive and effective solutions for healthcare-related applications.

The program is expected to enable the students to

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

All papers of this course shall be set/valued/reviewed by Board of Examination of Computer Science, University of Mysore

The process of setting the question paper and valuation will be looked after by the Board of Examination of Computer Science, University of Mysore.

 

DURATION OF THE PROGRAM:

Two Years with Four Semesters

 

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

The medium of instruction shall be in English.

 

ATTENDANCE

  • To calculate attendance, each semester shall be taken as a Unit.
  • A student shall be considered to have satisfied the requirement of attendance for the semester, if he/she has attended not less than 75% in aggregate of the number of working periods in each of the subjects compulsorily.
  • A student who fails to complete the course in the manner stated above shall not be permitted to take the University Examination.
