Illumination 2019 – Inter Collegiate Literary Fest
Competitions play a vital role in motivating students to perform, excel and offer a lot more reward than just the winning prize and it offers a chance for participants to gain substantial experience, showcase skills, analyze and evaluate outcomes and uncover personal aptitude. In order to identify and nurture various talents in students, Illumination – an Inter College Literary Competition was organized by the Department of English on 19th December 2019. The competition was organized with an objective of providing platform for the students to showcase the skills in various competitions like Essay Writing, Debate, Turn Coat and Pencil Sketch. Special Officer Mr. Abel Mathew Prasad, Principal Dr. C J Priya, Wing Commodore Pandurangi, Programme Convener Ms. Nagasri S inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. The inaugural programme commenced with a prayer by Mr. Damodara, I B.Com followed by a welcome address by Mr. Mohammed Shakeel, III B.Com. Dr. C. J. Priya Illumination 2019 – Inter Collegiate Literary Fest in her address, invited students to develop leadership qualities and take part in the competitions actively and thereby bring glory to their respective colleges. 80 students from various colleges in Mysuru i.e., St.Philomena’s College, St Joseph’s College, Sree Cauvery First Grade College, Sree Cauvery PU College, MMK SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Teresian College for Women, Maharani’s College, NIE First Grade College, Genius PU College had taken part in the various events conducted by the College. 19 students participated in pencil sketch competition. The theme of the event was on “Natural Calamity”. The students were given 1 hour to complete the task. Mr. Anjum Rizve with MFA, from CAVA College was invited as external judge and Ms. Dhanalakshmi.R. Librarian, HFGC held the responsibility as the internal judges for pencil sketch competition. 16 students from various colleges took part in Debate Competition. “Examination is mere judging of the memory not the knowledge” was the topic for the Debate Competition. Ms. Shabeena Ameen, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Teresian College, Mysuru & Ms. Savitha K V, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, HFGC were the judges for the competition. 30 students competed in Essay writing Competition. “Technology: A boon as well as a bane for students” was the topic given for essay writing competition. The students were given 1 hour to write an essay on the given topic. The scripts were evaluated by Ms. Sukshma. R. D, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Mr. Lakshmikanth, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Ms. Bhagyalakshmi C Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce & Management and Ms. Nagasri. S. Assistant Professor, Department of English. 15 students participated in Turn Coat Competition. Mr. Aravind R. Assistant Professor, Department of English, Vidyavardhaka First Grade College, Mysuru & Ms. Nayan Hashmi. Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce & Management, HFGC were the judges for the competition. The Valedictory Session began at 1.45PM at the Visveswarayya Hall. Wing Commodore Pandurangi, Principal Dr. C J Priya and Programme Convener Ms.Nagasri S were present on the diaz. Ms.Nagasri S announced the prize winners. The winners of the competition were given Cash prize and a certificate. The Valedictory programme was followed by the Photo session of the participants, winners and the student volunteers.
