World Students’ Day

The NSS unit of HFGC celebrated World Students’ day on 15/10/2019. The World Students’ Day was observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great Indian scientists and former president of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Mr. Ajay M, NSS Coordinator, in his speech highlighted the importance of World Students’ Day. A P J Abdul Kalam’s love for students, found the best voice when he said, “Dream, Dream, Dream, Dreams transform into  thoughts and thoughts result in action”. “If you fail, never give up because FAIL means ‘First Attempt in Learning”. A P J Abdul  Kalam was a role model for the students and his life story that how a poor and deprived boy hailing from a village in Tamil Nadu, reached constitutional post in India, only because of hard work and sincerity which inspires students across the globe even today. The late leader was known for his love for students and focus on promoting education. Kalam, a renowned scientist, made India proud with his missile defence programme, but his favourite job was teaching and that’s how he wanted the world to remember him. The long list of awards bestowed on Kalam include the Padma Bhusan in1981 and Padmaa Vibhushan in1990. He was later awarded the Bharat Ratna for his contributions to research, the field of science as well as his work with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).Among the many feathers in his cap is the successful testing of nuclear bombs at Pokhran. He was an author as well and his books include ‘Wings of Fire’,’My Journey’, ‘Ignited Minds -Unleashing the Power within India’ and ‘India 2020 – A Vision for the New Millennium’. Sweets were distributed to all the staff and students of HFGC as a part of World Students’ Day celebration.
