AN FDP ON SPSS FOR ACADEMIC RESEARCH

The Commerce Forum of the college organized a Faculty Development Programme (FDP)on “SPSS for Academic Research: Tools, Techniques and Interpretation” on 14th February 2026. The programme aimed to enhance the research capabilities of faculty members by providing practical knowledge of statistical analysis using the SPSS software. The session was delivered by Dr. Shilpa N.C., Assistant Professor, Department of MBA, St.Philomena’s College, Mysuru. She explained the fundamentals of the research process, including research design, hypothesis formulation, data collection methods, and questionnaire selection. The resource person also discussed reliability and validity testing techniques such as Cronbach’s Alpha, Test–Retest Reliability, and KMO and Bartlett’s tests. Various statistical techniques, including t-test, ANOVA, Chi-Square, correlation, and regression analysis, were explained with practical examples. The session also provided guidance on interpreting SPSS outputs for academic research and publications. The programme helped participants strengthen their understanding of statistical tools and improve their ability to analyse and interpret research data.
