FOUNDER’S MEMORIAL DAY

The 16th Memorial Day of Late Dr. K. C. G. Verghese, Founder Chairman of Hindustan Group of Institutions was commemorated on 14th February at KCG College of Technology Campus, Chennai.  The programme was graced by the august presence of the Group’s Chairperson Dr. Elizabeth Verghese, Director and CEO Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, other trustees, guests, faculty, and students of the group.  Mr. Ashok Vedhanayagam, Sishya Trust was the Cheif Guest. Floral Tribute was offered to the founder which was followed by a documentary video presentation on the life achievements of Dr. K.C.G. Verghese.

Dr. Priya, Principal, Hindustan College read the excerpts from the autobiography of the Founder, “Wheels and Wings”.  The students of Hindustan International School & Hindustan College of Arts and Science performed dance, hyms and documentary enactment.

During the occasion, the Chief Guest and the other speakers recalled the remarkable contributions of the late philanthropist and they appreciated the efforts taken by Dr. K. C. G. Verghese Charitable Foundation in executing health care and community projects at a larger scale.  The foundation donated two dialysis machines worth Rs. 14.5 lakhs to Ym. Ayyamuthu, Regional Director of South India Region of Y’s Men International, a service organisation spread across 73 countries in the world.  The organisation identified two hospitals namely Smart Vision Clinic, Adayar, Chennai and Sri Chakra Hospital, Gobichettipalayam to give free dialysis treatment to the patients.  On the same occasion, Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, who is presently serving as the Area President for the Indian Sub Continent in Y’s Men International signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AKVO Atmospheric Water Systems Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata to donate a Water Generating System worth Rs. 3.8 lakhs to ARK Service India Society, Thoraipakkam, a home for HIV-afflicted girl children.  The ceremony ended with a closing prayer and benediction by Rev. Zachariah Alexander, Vicar, St Paul’s, Adyar.
