FRESHERS’ ORIENTATION PROGRAMME (BCA)

A four-day Freshers’ Orientation Programme was conducted from 22 June 2026 to 25 June 2026 for the first-year BCA students. The programme was designed to provide an overview of the institution, the BCA curriculum, career opportunities, and emerging trends in Information Technology while helping students adapt to the academic environment.

01 INSTITUTIONAL ORIENTATION AND ACADEMIC INDUCTION

On 22 June 2026, the Department of Computer Science organized an orientation session for the first-year BCA students. The session introduced students to the Hindustan Group of Institutions, its academic programmes, faculty members, college rules and regulations, various student committees, and extracurricular activities. Students were also briefed on the scope, objectives, and career opportunities offered by the BCA programme. The orientation concluded with an interactive ice-breaking activity that encouraged students to interact, build rapport, and become acquainted with one another, thereby creating a welcoming and engaging learning environment.

 

02 CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN SOFTWARE TESTING

On 23 June 2026, Mrs. S. N. Ranjitha Chakravarthy, Automation Test Specialist at IBM, conducted an informative session on Software Testing as a Career. She explained the importance of software testing in ensuring the quality and reliability of software applications and discussed the diverse career opportunities available in the software testing domain. The session provided students with valuable insights into the IT industry.

 

03 EMERGING TRENDS AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

On 24 June 2026, Mr. Suhas S delivered a session on “Career and Emerging Trends in Information Technology.” he discussed the latest developments in Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Data Science, and Automation Testing. Students were introduced to diverse career opportunities in the IT sector and were encouraged to develop both technical and professional competencies to meet industry expectations.

 

04 INDUSTRIAL EXPOSURE TO CYBER SECURITY

On 25 June 2026, an industrial visit was organized to Cyber verse Foundation, Mysuru, for the first-year BCA students. The visit provided hands-on exposure to Cyber Security concepts and their real-world applications. Students actively participated in demonstrations and workshops, gaining practical knowledge and a deeper understanding of the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity.
