ILLUMINATION2021– INTER COLLEGE LITERARY COMPETITIONS

With an objective of recognising and rewarding excellence in the creative thinking abilities in students Hindustan first Grade College is organising illumination a literary fest to nurture the competitive spirit amongst the student fraternity. The various literary competitions of illumination- AIMS at motivating students to perform, Excel and showcase their various skills. The variety of competitions aims at helping contenders to acquire and enhance social and emotional learning.

RULES TO BE FOLLOWED FOR THE COMPETITION

ESSAY COMPETITION

Rules and regulations:

  1. . Each college can send 2 participants
  2. Essay should be written in English only.
  3. Duration of the competition: 1 Hour.
  4. Participants will be provided with the papers.
  5. Essay should be original.
  6. Judges decision is final

 

DEBATE COMPETITION

  1. Each college can send 2 participants:
    1.  To speak for about the topic
    2. To speak against the topic
  2. The topics will be given on the spot
  3. Duration of the competition: 5 + 1 minutes
  4. Participants should speak in English only
  5. Judges decision is final.

 

TURNCOAT

Turncoat is a form of debate where the speaker literally debates against oneself. The speaker starts by taking a stance on the topic and switches sides after a specific duration of time.

Rules and regulations:

  1. Each college can send 2 participants
  2. The topics will be given on the spot
  3. Preparation time: 10 minutes after topic is given.
  4. Participants should speak in English only.
  5. Duration: Each speaker will have to speak for 3 + 1 mins on the given topic. The initial will be given to the speaker along with the topic. The order or changing sides is as follows:
    1. For
    2. Against
    3. For
    4. Against
    5. Summary
  6. Judges decision is final
    Judging Criteria:

    1. 40% Content
    2. 20% Physical presence – Eye contact, body language and poise.
    3. 20% Voice and articulation – Volume, pace, rhythm, intonation and proper pronunciation.
    4. 20% Language – Appropriateness and accurate use of language.

PENCIL SKETCH

  1. Each college can send 2 participants
  2. The topics will be given on the spot
  3. Duration: 1 Hour
  4. Drawing sheets will be provided by the college.
  5. Participants should carry pencil and eraser.
  6. Judges decision is final
