LIBRARIAN’S DAY CELEBRATION

On 12th August 2026, the Library Club of Hindustan College, Mysore, celebrated Librarian’s Day  to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India.

The celebration was held in the college library, where students were informed about the significance of Librarian’s Day and the valuable contributions of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan to the field of library science. As a mark of respect and remembrance, the photograph of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan was unveiled during the programme.

As part of the celebration, three faculty members of Hindustan College donated books to the college library, contributing towards the enrichment of the library collection and encouraging a culture of reading and knowledge sharing. Sweets were also distributed to the students, faculty members, and staff on the occasion.

The celebration highlighted the importance of libraries in supporting academic learning, research, self-learning, and the development of a strong reading culture among students.
